Equipment

  • 1 Large Skillet
  • 1 Small Skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 small onions, sliced
  • 2 large bell peppers, sliced
  • 2 pounds thinly shaved steak of your choice
  • 1 pound sliced mushrooms
  • 1 package hoagie or sub sandwich rolls
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Prepare the Vegetables:
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of oil. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Add the sliced mushrooms and continue to cook until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Cook the Steak:
In the same skillet, add another drizzle of oil if needed, and increase the heat to medium-high. Add the thinly shaved steak to the skillet, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Season the steak with Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, minced garlic, and smoked paprika. Cook until the steak is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Assemble the Sandwiches:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a baking sheet, lay out the hoagie rolls and evenly distribute the cooked steak onto the rolls. Top each sandwich with the sautéed vegetables. Place sliced Swiss cheese on top of the vegetables. Bake the sandwiches in the oven for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve:
Remove the sandwiches from the oven and add sliced banana peppers on top for an extra kick. Serve hot and enjoy your Texas Cheese Steak Sandwich!
