There’s something deeply comforting about Southern food, and it’s not always the grand recipes or slow-cooked masterpieces. Sometimes, the simplest treats evoke the most nostalgia and joy—like these Cinnamon Sugar Donut Bites, made with humble biscuit dough.
1 or 2 cans small buttermilk biscuits (10 biscuits per can)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Oil for frying (enough to fill a deep fryer or cover the bottom of a large frying pan)

Instructions
Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar Mixture:In a medium-sized bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
Preheat the Oil:Heat the oil in your deep fryer or large frying pan to around 350°F. Make sure there's enough oil to submerge the biscuit pieces for even frying.
Cut the Biscuits:Open the cans of buttermilk biscuits and separate them. Cut each biscuit into quarters to create bite-sized pieces.
Fry the Biscuit Bites:Working in batches, carefully place the biscuit pieces into the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, flipping occasionally, until they turn golden brown and puff up. Remove them using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Coat in Cinnamon Sugar:While the donut bites are still warm, toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture, making sure each piece is evenly coated.
