Prepare the shrimp batter: In a large bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and dried basil (or Italian seasoning).
Fry the shrimp: Heat a large skillet or deep fryer with oil over medium heat. Dredge the shrimp in the flour mixture, making sure each shrimp is well coated. Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy. Remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Make the spicy garlic mayo: In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, minced garlic, hot sauce, lemon juice, black pepper, and salt. Stir until well combined, and set aside.
Assemble the sandwich: Slice the hoagie rolls in half and spread a generous layer of the spicy garlic mayo on each side. Add fresh lettuce slices, then pile the fried shrimp on top. Drizzle a little more spicy mayo over the shrimp for extra flavor.
Serve and enjoy! Serve these sandwiches warm and enjoy the crispy, spicy shrimp with the cool crunch of fresh lettuce and the creamy, tangy mayo.
