Equipment

  • 1 Sauce Pot
  • 1 Large Bowl With Lid
  • 1 Small Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Large Spoon
  • 1 Slicing Knife

Ingredients

  • 10 cups whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 9 tbsps cornstarch
  • 3 1/2 tbsps butter
  • 1 tbsp banana flavoring
  • 8 large egg yolks
  • 3 large bananas, sliced
  • 10 large strawberries, sliced
  • 1 box vanilla wafer cookies

Instructions

  • In a large saucepan, combine the whole milk, sugar, and salt over medium heat. Stir occasionally until the mixture begins to simmer.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and egg yolks until smooth.
  • Slowly pour the egg yolk mixture into the simmering milk mixture while continuously whisking.
  • Continue whisking for about 5 minutes or until the pudding thickens to a nice thick consistency.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the butter and banana flavoring until well combined.
  • Let the pudding base cool completely before using it in assembling the final dessert.
  • Assembling the Strawberry Banana Pudding:
  • Slice the bananas into thin rounds and set them aside.
  • Hull and slice the strawberries into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a glass dish or individual serving bowls, start by layering a generous amount of the cooled pudding base.
  • Add a layer of vanilla wafer cookies on top of the pudding base, creating a solid even layer.
  • Add a layer of sliced bananas, followed by a layer of sliced strawberries.
  • Repeat the layers until you use up all the ingredients, finishing with a final layer of pudding on top.
  • Crumble a few vanilla wafer cookies and sprinkle them over the last layer of pudding for an extra crunch.
