Equipment

  • 1 Large Mixing Bowl
  • 1 deep fryer or frying pan

Ingredients

  • 12 oz canned crab claw meat
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups crushed Cheez-It crackers
  • 1/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 tablespoon dried dill
  • 1/2 tablespoon dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • Prepare the Crab Mixture:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned crab claw meat, minced garlic, Old Bay seasoning, dried dill, dried basil, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Crack the egg into the mixture and gently fold everything together until well combined.
  • Fill with Crunchy Goodness:
In a separate bowl, mix the crushed Cheez-It crackers and cornmeal to create an extra layer of flavor. Now gently fold this mixture into the crab mixture and make sure to mix well.
  • Form the Crab Bites:
Take small portions of the crab mixture and shape them into bite-sized balls. Ensure they hold together well to prevent any breakage during frying.
  • Fry to Perfection:
Heat oil in a deep fryer or a large, deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the coated crab bites into the hot oil, frying until golden brown and crispy, approximately 2-3 minutes per side.
  • Drain and Serve:
Remove the fried crab bites from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
