Equipment

  • 1 large stock pot

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds of snow crab legs
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 package of Louisiana Seafood Boil Seasoning
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried basil

Spicy Garlic Butter for Dipping:

  • 1 stick of melted butter
  • 2 tbsp minced garlic or 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  • Prepare the stockpot: Grab a large stockpot with a lid, which will be your trusty companion in creating the ultimate steamed crab legs. Place it on the stove and set the heat to medium-high.
  • Melt the butter: Add the butter to the stockpot and let it melt, allowing its rich flavors to infuse into the crab legs.
  • Introduce the flavors: Pour in the water, followed by the cayenne pepper, salt, dried basil, and Louisiana Seafood Boil Seasoning. These ingredients will create an irresistible Cajun spice blend that adds a delicious Southern flair to your crab legs.
  • Bring it to a boil: Allow the mixture to come to a boil, allowing the flavors to meld together beautifully.
  • Add the crab legs: Carefully place the snow crab legs into the pot, and cover with the lid.
  • Steam to perfection: Turn the heat to low and steam for approximately 7-9 minutes only. Overcooking can lead to tough and rubbery crab legs, so be sure to keep an eye on the timer.
  • Make Your Dipping Butter: Melt the stick of butter and then add the garlic and cayenne pepper. Stir well and serve in small dipping bowls for your crab meat.
