Tips for the Perfect Sandwich

  • Choose Quality Steak: The better the steak, the better the sandwich. Opt for a tender cut that’s easy to shave thinly.
  • Don’t Overcrowd the Skillet: When cooking the steak, work in batches if necessary to ensure even browning.
  • Customize Your Cheese: While Swiss cheese is a classic choice, you can switch it up with provolone, cheddar, or even pepper jack for a bit of heat.

Conclusion

This Texas Cheese Steak Sandwich is more than just a meal—it’s an experience. With each bite, you’ll taste the care and attention that goes into making this dish a standout on any table. So why wait? Equipment

  • 1 Large Skillet
  • 1 Small Skillet

Ingredients

  • 2 small onions, sliced
  • 2 large bell peppers, sliced
  • 2 pounds thinly shaved steak of your choice
  • 1 pound sliced mushrooms
  • 1 package hoagie or sub sandwich rolls
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Prepare the Vegetables:
In a large skillet over medium heat, add a drizzle of oil. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté until they begin to soften, about 5 minutes. Add the sliced mushrooms and continue to cook until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Cook the Steak:
In the same skillet, add another drizzle of oil if needed, and increase the heat to medium-high. Add the thinly shaved steak to the skillet, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Season the steak with Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, black pepper, minced garlic, and smoked paprika. Cook until the steak is browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Assemble the Sandwiches:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). On a baking sheet, lay out the hoagie rolls and evenly distribute the cooked steak onto the rolls. Top each sandwich with the sautéed vegetables. Place sliced Swiss cheese on top of the vegetables. Bake the sandwiches in the oven for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve:
Remove the sandwiches from the oven and add sliced banana peppers on top for an extra kick. Serve hot and enjoy your Texas Cheese Steak Sandwich!
