- Layer the Cake Mix: Pour one box of yellow cake mix evenly across the bottom of the greased pan.
- Add the Oranges: Pour both cans of mandarin oranges, syrup and all, over the cake mix. Spread them out evenly for juicy bursts of flavor in every slice.
- Lemon Cream Drizzle: Slightly melt the Lemon Cream Cheese frosting until it’s pourable, then drizzle it all over the oranges. Alternatively, you can add it in big spoonfuls for a more rustic texture.
- Top with More Cake Mix: Pour the second box of cake mix evenly across the entire pan, ensuring everything is covered.
- Finish with Butter: Pour the melted butter over the top, allowing it to soak into the cake mix and oranges.
- Bake: Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for 1 hour, until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Cool and Chill: Remove from the oven and allow the cake to cool completely. Once cooled, spread a layer of cool whip over the top for an extra creamy finish. Chill in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving.
