There’s something undeniably magical about the scent of freshly baked pizza dough, mingling with the savory aroma of bubbling cheese and zesty pepperoni. If you’re a pizza aficionado like me, you understand the allure of that perfect bite-sized delight: pizza rolls. But why settle for store-bought when you can craft your own reminiscent of the best in town? Enter my Homemade Pizzeria-Style Pizza Rolls – a slice of nostalgia rolled into a delectable snack.

The Doughy Foundation

Let’s start with the heart of these mouthwatering treats: the homemade pizza dough. Not only is it remarkably easy to make, but its taste is unparalleled. Head over to my blog for the recipe, where simplicity meets deliciousness. The secret? Quality ingredients, a bit of patience, and a whole lot of love.

Taste of Nostalgia

My quest for the perfect pizza roll was inspired by the irresistible allure of Southern pepperoni pizza rolls from Double Dave’s Pizza in College Station, Texas. Having grown up in that vibrant town, I’d often find myself drawn to the cozy corners of Double Dave’s for those unforgettable bites. And now, recreating that magical flavor in my kitchen feels like a cherished trip down memory lane.

Crafting the Perfect Pizza Rolls

Picture this: golden, crisp exteriors giving way to a medley of melted cheese, tangy tomato sauce, and savory pepperoni. Each bite offers a symphony of flavors and textures, reminiscent of the best pizzerias. The beauty of these homemade rolls lies not just in their taste but in the joy of creating them from scratch.

Serving Suggestions

Now, onto the exciting part – serving these delectable delights! While these pizza rolls shine on their own, pairing them with your favorite dipping sauce elevates the experience. Marinara, garlic aioli, or even a tangy ranch dip perfectly complement their flavors.

Consider serving these rolls as an appetizer at your next gathering or as a quick, satisfying meal. Arrange them on a platter with a side salad for a delightful lunch option. And let’s not forget game nights or movie marathons – these pizza rolls are the ultimate crowd-pleaser!

Simple Pizza Roll Recipe

In a world of fast food and instant gratification, the simple act of creating homemade pizza rolls from scratch holds a unique charm. It’s about more than just the taste – it’s about reliving cherished memories, embracing creativity, and savoring every bite of your culinary masterpiece.

So, roll up your sleeves, knead that dough, and embark on a flavorful journey that takes you back to the comforting flavors of your favorite pizzeria. With my Homemade Pizzeria-Style Pizza Rolls, you’re not just making snacks; you’re creating moments of pure, homemade joy.

Stay tuned for more culinary adventures and remember, the best memories are often crafted in our own kitchens.

Ingredients

  • 1 Ball of Proofed Pizza Dough
  • Shredded Cheese (mozzarella or a blend of your choice)
  • Sliced Pepperoni, Sausage, Ham or your favorite meats
  • Olives, Peppers, Onions, or your favorite pizza veggies ( optional )
  • Ranch and marinara for dipping

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough
Start by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C). Take the proofed pizza dough ball and gently punch it down just a bit to release any excess air. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle shape, about 1/4 inch thick. Now cut it into rectangle strips big enough to fill and roll.
  • Add the Toppings
Now it's time to layer on the flavors! Arrange the sliced pepperoni evenly over the rolled-out dough strips, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded cheese generously over the pepperoni. Feel free to get creative here by adding any additional fillings you desire, such as diced bell peppers or olives.
  • Shape the Rolls
Starting from one end of the dough rectangle, carefully roll it up tightly into a log shape. Make sure to seal the edges by pinching them together firmly. Once rolled, gently press down on the log to flatten it slightly.
  • Bake for 15 - 20 Minutes
Place the rolls onto a greased baking sheet or lined with parchment paper, leaving some space in between them. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rolls turn golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve and Enjoy!
Once out of the oven, allow the pizza rolls to cool slightly before serving. Serve them warm with a side of ranch and marinara sauce for dipping. The combination of the crispy exterior, gooey cheese, and tangy sauces will surely satisfy your taste buds!
